Hierarchical task analysis (HTA)
can help us understand and improve work practices. By using an approach based on the operations people carry out rather than trying to identify and unravel the complexities  the underlying behaviour. In this way it avoids  dubious assumptions about human behaviour and inappropriate application of  research undertaken in different work contexts. It also avoids distorting the preferences and requirements of people managing the work.

HTAGeek explores basic ideas and implications of this method.
